iRobot (Roomba) is rolling out a major refresh of its cleaning lineup, led by a new 5‑in‑1 hard floor machine called the Roomba Electro Plus and a next generation of Roomba robot vacuums. The new products focus on disinfecting, deeper hard floor care, better navigation, and smarter software features that tie everything together in the iRobot Home app. The company is pitching the updates toward people who want fewer tools in their closet and more automated cleaning around the home.
The Roomba Electro Plus is a corded 5‑in‑1 hard floor cleaner that is designed to replace several separate tools. It can vacuum, wash, disinfect, mop, and dry sealed hard floors in one pass instead of making you go over the same area multiple times with different devices. iRobot is positioning it as a solution for homes with a lot of tile, vinyl, laminate, or sealed wood, where you might normally use a stick vacuum, traditional mop, and a separate disinfecting product. The machine is meant for users who want a deeper clean than a spray mop or simple wet pad can give.
To handle all those jobs, the Electro Plus uses a combination of suction, rotating brushes, water, and a disinfecting solution that targets bacteria on hard surfaces. The cleaner head applies liquid to the floor, scrubs using powered rollers, then vacuums up dirty water and dries the surface to cut down on streaks and residue. iRobot is stressing that the disinfecting step is intended for sealed hard floors and should be used with the company’s compatible cleaning formula, not generic chemicals that could damage the unit or flooring. The 5‑in‑1 approach is meant to reduce both cleaning time and the number of machines you need to store.
Alongside the Electro Plus, iRobot is introducing a new generation of Roomba robot vacuums with upgraded navigation and smarter cleaning patterns. The new Roombas are built to map a home more quickly and move with straighter lines rather than random bump‑and‑turn paths seen on older models. That helps them cover rooms more predictably and avoid repeating the same spots, which can be a problem in larger or more cluttered spaces. The robots also use improved sensors to better detect furniture legs, walls, and other obstacles.
The new models plug into the iRobot Home app with a stronger focus on automation and personalization. Users can set cleaning schedules, select specific rooms or zones, and see where the robot has cleaned on a map. The robots can remember room names and adjust suction or cleaning behavior based on the type of flooring they detect, like rugs versus hard surfaces. Support for no‑go zones and targeted cleanups makes it easier to send the robot to just the kitchen, entryway, or under the dining table after meals.
iRobot is also talking more about safety and home‑friendly behavior in this generation. The new Roombas are designed to avoid common hazards like stairs, cords, and pet waste, relying on updated software and sensing systems to identify and stay away from problem areas. Families with kids or pets can use the app to set boundaries, while still letting the robot handle routine vacuuming without constant supervision. Paired with the Roomba Electro Plus for hard floors, the expanded lineup is aimed at people who want both deeper cleaning tools and smarter robots that can take over more of the weekly floor care work.
