What the MSH450P Matter Smart Hub Pro Does
The MSH450P Matter Smart Hub Pro acts as the central brain for up to 32 Meross devices in a home. It connects to a router over Ethernet or 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, then exposes its connected accessories to Matter so they show up in major smart home apps. This lets the new sensors plug into existing setups built around Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or Home Assistant.
The hub includes Bluetooth to link with the new battery-powered sensors and still keeps a 433MHz radio for older Meross accessories. That means compatible Meross accessories that use 433MHz can keep working through the new hub. Meross also supports a one-tap migration path from the earlier MSH450 hub to the new Pro model, so existing users can move over without re-adding each device by hand.
How the Sensors Work With Matter
The four new sensors talk to the hub over Bluetooth Low Energy, not directly to a Matter network. The hub then forwards their readings and events into Matter, so they appear in smart home apps as bridged Matter accessories. This setup lets the sensors be relatively simple, battery-friendly Bluetooth devices while still plugging into multi-platform Matter systems through the hub.
All four sensors require the MSH450P, and once they are paired to it the ones your platform supports can be controlled and automated through Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and Home Assistant. The MS120H temperature and humidity monitor is designed for people who want detailed climate readings. It has a 1.9 inch screen and tracks relative humidity, dew point, absolute humidity, and vapor pressure deficit. The sensor includes a built-in buzzer and runs on a replaceable battery Meross rates at up to three years, so it can sit in a room for long stretches without maintenance.
The MS220H door and window sensor expands on standard open-close monitoring by adding vibration detection. It can send alerts when a door or window is opened or closed, and it also includes a buzzer rated at up to 100dB with an LED indicator, a switchable doorbell mode, and a button that can trigger automations. Meross lists battery life at up to three years, so it is meant for long-term use on doors, windows, or other access points.
The MS420H water leak sensor focuses on catching trouble before it spreads. It can detect leaks, drips, rain, freezing conditions, and changes in water level. A 1.5-meter extension probe lets people reach tight spots like under appliances or inside cabinets, and an adjustable buzzer rated at up to 100dB is built in for loud local alerts. Meross rates this sensor’s battery at up to four years, which suits locations that are hard to access.
The MS700H is a programmable button that doubles as a small status screen. It has three switchable screens and supports up to nine custom controls total, letting it work as a multi-function remote for scenes and devices. It also shows temperature and humidity and can sound an alert when other Meross devices detect events. Meross rates its battery life at up to two and a half years. All four sensors share an IP66 rating and are designed to operate in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C, which suits both indoor and many outdoor locations.
How It Works and What You Need to Get Started
Getting started with the MSH450P Matter Smart Hub Pro centers on three steps: connect the hub to your network, pair your sensors, and then link the hub to your smart home platform. First, you plug the hub into power, connect it to your router using either Ethernet or 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and set it up in the Meross app. The app walks you through adding the hub to your network and turning on Matter support.
Next, you put each of the four sensors into pairing mode and add them to the hub over Bluetooth Low Energy in the Meross app. Once the hub sees your sensors, you then add the MSH450P as a Matter device inside Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or Home Assistant. At that point, the sensors your platform supports will show up as bridged Matter accessories in those apps, and you can start building automations and alerts.
For people who already own the previous MSH450 hub, Meross says there is a one-tap migration option to move devices over to the new MSH450P. Local Alerts and Availability
The MSH450P is not just a bridge to other smart home platforms. It has its own speaker that can play custom voice announcements when events happen, such as a door opening or a water leak being detected. Meross says those alerts are available in multiple languages, which can help families that use more than one language at home.
Local alarms on the hub and on compatible sensors keep working even if the home network goes down. That means someone can still hear a buzzer or spoken alert from the hub or sensor during connectivity problems.
