Tuya Smart, a global cloud developer service provider, has announced its plans to utilize Google’s new Device and Structure APIs in the smart home sector. These APIs were introduced at the Google I/O 2024 event. Tuya aims to expand its ecosystem and provide developers with more opportunities in the smart home market. The smart home market is experiencing growth due to advancements in technologies like cloud computing, AI, and IoT.

Tuya has a history of collaboration with Google, being an early adopter of the Google Assistant on its platform. In 2021, Tuya became an authorized solution provider for Google. In 2023, Tuya integrated Google Cloud into its multi-cloud architecture, enhancing the range of cloud tools and services available to developers.

As smart homes become more prevalent, apps are increasingly essential for device control. Tuya has developed the Tuya Smart App Solution to assist developers with app construction, addressing challenges in interaction logic design, interface development, and integration. This solution offers comprehensive services from planning and design to development, testing, store listing, and maintenance, helping developers reduce time and R&D costs. Tuya’s global cloud deployment supports billions of devices and millions of concurrent processes, meeting the varied demands of the market.

At Google I/O 2024, several new APIs were introduced, including the Matter Commission API, Device and Structure APIs, and Automation APIs. Tuya plans to integrate the Device and Structure APIs into its Tuya-enabled App, aiming to improve performance and reduce latency in managing smart home devices. This integration will allow developers to manage all smart home devices that support Google Home within Tuya’s Smart App Solution, offering cross-platform and cross-scenario management.

For instance, in a home cleaning scenario, the Tuya-enabled App can turn off the fan, set the air conditioning to economy mode, and start a sweeping robot when a motion sensor detects that the user has left the room for five minutes. This integration facilitates convenience and energy efficiency.

Tuya has previously experimented with Device and Structure APIs to create customized smart home scenarios. These capabilities were showcased at Google I/O 2024, highlighting the compatibility and application possibilities of the Tuya-enabled App with Google’s APIs.

Tuya plans to continue collaborating with industry leaders like Google to advance the smart home sector, providing developers with reliable and secure technologies. For more information, visit Tuya’s website here.
