Ring is adding four new video doorbells and two solar accessories, with a focus on higher video quality and more power options. The big news piece is the Battery Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen), which records in 4K and runs on a battery instead of needing to be wired into your doorbell system. Ring is also rolling out three 2K models at lower prices, along with a paid Ring AI Pro subscription that adds search and summary tools for recorded video. All the new devices are available for pre-order and come with a trial of the AI service.

The Battery Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen) is the top model in this group. It records Retinal 4K video and offers up to 10x Enhanced Zoom, so the camera can capture more detail at the front door during the day and at night. Ring says it redesigned the internal layout of this doorbell to support the higher resolution and added features while keeping it running on battery power. Since it does not require wiring, it can be placed in more locations where running a cable is not practical.

Alongside the 4K option, Ring is adding three Retinal 2K doorbells that are meant to cover different setups and budgets. The Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) uses a Quick Release Battery Pack and records 2K video, so you can remove and recharge the battery without taking the whole doorbell off the wall. The standard Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen) also records in 2K and offers up to 6x Enhanced Zoom in a simpler rechargeable design. For homes that already have doorbell wiring in place, the Wired Doorbell (2nd Gen) records Retinal 2K video and connects to that existing power. These three models include Motion Detection, Night Vision, and real-time alerts in the Ring app.

To help keep the battery models charged, Ring is also releasing two solar accessories. The Ring Solar Charger is built into a mounting plate. You attach the charger to the wall and mount the doorbell directly on top of it, so the panel can feed extra power to the battery while keeping the setup in one piece. The Ring Solar Panel is a separate panel that connects to the Quick Release Battery Packs and is meant to extend the time between manual recharges. It is designed for higher power output to support these newer doorbells and can be mounted on a roof or at different angles to get better sun exposure.

Ring is also pushing a software piece called Ring AI Pro. This is a subscription that adds several tools to the doorbells. With it, you can get Video Descriptions that use plain language to sum up what happened in a motion clip, so you do not need to watch the whole recording. You can also use Video Search to look through stored video using words like “person,” “package,” or “car” to find events more quickly. The plan can store up to 180 days of video history and includes Extended Live View, which keeps the live feed open for longer periods. Some subscription tiers add more monitoring features meant to help users respond faster if they see something important in the footage.

All four doorbells and both solar accessories are open for pre-order through Ring. Each device comes with a trial of Ring AI Pro, and users who want the extra search, summary, and extended storage options can choose a paid subscription after the trial ends.
