Ecovacs, the brand better known for robot vacuums and mops, is moving into backyard territory with a new robotic pool cleaner called the ULTRAMARINE P1. The cordless cleaner is built to handle in-ground and above-ground pools and is available now in the United States. Ecovacs is pitching it as a “set it and forget it” option for pool owners who want to cut down on manual vacuuming, brushing, and netting.

The ULTRAMARINE P1 is designed to clean the floor, walls, and waterline of a pool in one cycle. It uses a combination of strong suction, dual scrubbing brushes, and smart navigation to move around the pool instead of following a random pattern. Ecovacs says it can cover up to 2,260 square feet of pool surface and work in water as deep as 10 feet. The cleaner is compatible with most pool shapes, including rectangular, round, and freeform designs.

Power is a big focus with this model. The ULTRAMARINE P1 runs on a rechargeable battery and does not need to be plugged in while cleaning, so there are no cables trailing into the water. Ecovacs states that the battery can last up to 3.5 hours on a single charge, long enough for one full cleaning session for most residential pools. When the cycle is done or the battery gets low, the robot moves to the side of the pool and parks itself near the waterline to make it easier to lift out.

The cleaner uses what Ecovacs calls “TrueMapping” navigation, similar to what it uses in some of its higher-end robot vacuums. Instead of bouncing randomly, the ULTRAMARINE P1 maps out the pool and follows planned paths to avoid repeating the same spots. Sensors help it climb and scrub the walls and waterline, then return to the floor without getting stuck. The goal is to pick up sand, leaves, small debris, and some algae while leaving fewer missed patches.

Control options are split between a physical button on the device and a companion mobile app. You can choose different cleaning modes, such as floor-only, floor plus walls, or a quick clean, depending on how dirty the pool is and how much time you have. The app also shows basic status information and allows you to start or schedule a cleaning session without walking over to the pool. For people who are used to scheduling robot vacuums from their phone, the experience is meant to feel familiar.

Maintenance centers on a built-in filter basket that can be taken out and rinsed under a hose. Ecovacs designed the top of the unit to open easily so you do not have to flip the robot over to reach the filter. The company is targeting pool owners who want to reduce weekly manual cleaning and rely more on automated tools alongside existing pumps and chemical systems. With the ULTRAMARINE P1, Ecovacs is clearly trying to extend its home robotics line from indoor floors to outdoor pools, using technology it already uses in its DEEBOT vacuum series.
