IKEA has announced plans to launch over 20 new smart home products in January, all designed to work with Matter, a common smart home standard. The company says these new products will make it easier for people to use smart home technology with devices from other brands. IKEA’s goal is to offer smart home solutions that are simple to use and affordable for many people, not just those with a lot of technical knowledge.

The new line includes products that work with the DIRIGERA hub, which now functions as a Matter Controller. This hub lets people connect and manage Matter-enabled devices, even from brands other than IKEA. The DIRIGERA hub also acts as a Matter Bridge. This means that people who already have IKEA smart home products will be able to use them alongside new devices that support the Matter standard. IKEA says this approach gives customers more choice and flexibility when setting up their smart homes.

David Granath, Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden, said the company wants to make it easier for more people to get started with smart home products. By supporting Matter, IKEA products can now work across different brands and platforms. IKEA plans to keep prices low so that more people can afford to add smart technology to their homes. The company says the new products are made to fit into any smart home setup a customer prefers.

IKEA is also focusing on sound products as part of its new direction. This year, two new Bluetooth speakers will launch. The NATTBAD speaker, available in yellow, pink, and black, is designed to look like an old radio and will be released in July. It offers a low-cost way to add sound to the home. In October, the BLOMPRAKT table speaker will arrive. This product combines a speaker with a lamp, available in beige, black, and blue. The lamp can be angled to set the mood in a room. Both speakers are made to be easy to set up and use. Features include quick connection and the ability to use Spotify Tap, so users can play music without any complicated setup.

IKEA says it has learned from its past work on sound products. The company aims to make speakers that are not only functional but also look good in the home. The new speakers are designed to be simple and affordable, so people do not need to worry about price or complicated technology. The company’s goal is for customers to feel comfortable adding sound to their homes in a way that fits their style.

In January, IKEA will also start a design partnership with Swedish designer Tekla Severin, known as “Teklan.” This project focuses on making electronics feel more like part of the home by adding more color and personality to the devices. IKEA plans to share more updates about its smart home products and collaborations in the coming months. The company says it wants to combine technology with home design to make daily life easier and more personal.
