Govee’s new Outdoor Solar String Lights are built to give you colorful outdoor lighting without touching a power outlet. The company is rolling out its first solar string lights with RGBIC color control, a separate solar panel, and app and voice control aimed at patios, backyards, and balconies.
The lights are part of Govee’s smart lighting lineup and are designed for people who want permanent or semi-permanent outdoor lights without running extension cords. They use solar charging in the day and turn on automatically at night, with smart features layered on top for people who already use Alexa, Google Assistant, or the Govee app.
The new Outdoor Solar String Lights use Govee’s RGBIC tech, which means each segment can show more than one color at the same time. That allows multi-color gradients across the strand instead of just one solid color. Users can pick from preset scenes, solid colors, or custom effects. The lights are aimed at everyday use but also at events like parties, backyard dinners, and holiday decorating.
Power comes from an upgraded solar panel that charges during the day and stores energy for nighttime use. The panel connects to the string lights, so you do not need to plug them into an outlet if they get enough sun. The system is meant to cut down on wiring and power usage, especially in spots far from the house, like fences, pergolas, or garden edges. Govee is positioning this as a way to get smart lighting in areas where running a cable would be a hassle.
Control runs through the Govee Home app, where users can change colors, dim the lights, set timers, and switch between scenes. The lights also work with voice assistants, so you can turn them on or off or switch scenes with hands-free commands if you connect them to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. There is support for grouping with other Govee products, so users who already own indoor strip lights or outdoor floodlights can sync colors or effects across their setup. That can matter if you want your patio, garden, and living room lights to match for events.
The company is promoting the Outdoor Solar String Lights as an all-in-one upgrade for people already familiar with standard white solar lights. Traditional solar strings usually offer only one color and little control beyond a simple on/off switch. Govee’s version is trying to combine solar convenience with smart light features many people already use indoors, like app scheduling and animated color effects. It targets homeowners and renters who want to improve outdoor spaces without calling an electrician or adding new outdoor outlets.
