Aqara has launched its new Doorbell Camera Hub G410, which is now available worldwide. This product is a 2K video doorbell camera that also acts as a hub for different smart home devices. The Doorbell Camera Hub G410 supports several connectivity options, including dual-band Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee, and Bluetooth. This range of options allows users to connect both Aqara devices and many third-party devices that work with Matter, a smart home standard. The G410 supports more than 50 types of Matter-compatible products, such as smart locks, sensors, switches, lights, robotic vacuums, home appliances, and electric vehicle chargers.
The camera on the G410 records video in 2K resolution, which means the image is clear and detailed. It has a wide 175-degree field of view and an f/1.8 aperture, allowing it to capture more of what happens at your front door. The doorbell includes a millimeter-wave presence sensor, which helps it detect people accurately and reduce false alerts. With on-device facial recognition, the G410 can identify visitors and send notifications, or trigger certain smart home actions, without requiring any paid subscription. Using the Advanced Matter Bridging feature, the doorbell can also share facial recognition events with third-party Matter platforms, such as Home Assistant, so users can set up even more types of automations.
The G410 fits well into many smart home setups. It is compatible with Apple Home and supports HomeKit Secure Video, which is useful for iPhone and iPad users who want a battery-operated doorbell. It also connects to smart displays that use Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings. The doorbell supports RTSP, which lets users stream video to third-party clients over their local network. This includes popular software like Home Assistant, Frigate, and Blue Iris for those who want more control over their video recordings.
For storing video footage, the G410 offers both cloud and local storage choices. Users get end-to-end encryption with storage on the Aqara cloud, including one day of free storage for six months or up to ninety days with a HomeGuardian subscription. Those with an iCloud account can use Apple’s storage service. For local storage, there is support for microSD cards up to 512 gigabytes, and the card slot is located in the chime unit inside the home, which helps prevent tampering. It is also possible to back up videos to a local NAS system, giving users more storage space and centralized access to their footage.
The power options for the G410 include both wired and battery operation. It can be hardwired to a low-voltage AC or DC power supply for continuous use and round-the-clock recording. If wiring is not possible, the device can run on six AA batteries, which can last up to five months under typical use. This allows the doorbell to work in different types of homes and installations.
