DESLOC’s new V150 Plus Solar Smart Lock has drawn hundreds of backers on Kickstarter within days of launch, quickly becoming the highest-funded smart lock campaign on the platform since 2023. The company says the project reached its initial goal within about an hour, driven by backers interested in a lock that runs on solar power instead of only batteries. DESLOC positions the V150 Plus as a way to cut down on battery swaps, wiring work, and lockouts tied to dead power. The Kickstarter campaign has now wrapped up, and DESLOC has opened pre-orders ahead of shipping.
At the center of the product is a built‑in solar panel on the exterior side of the lock that charges an internal battery. DESLOC says normal daylight on a door is enough to keep the lock powered for regular home use, and there is still an internal battery for backup. For people worried about shade or bad weather, the company points out that the lock can also be charged by USB‑C and two mechanical keys are included as a physical backup. The idea is that most users will not need to think about power for long stretches of time, even on busy doors.
The V150 Plus is designed to fit standard doors without drilling large new holes, according to DESLOC. The lock replaces a traditional deadbolt and keeps the interior latch, so the door can still be opened from inside with a turn of the knob. Installation is aimed at homeowners and renters who want a smart lock but do not want to run wires or hire an installer. DESLOC says most people can mount the V150 Plus using just a screwdriver and the included hardware.
On the smart side, the V150 Plus supports app control, digital keys, and several unlock methods. Users can unlock through 3D facial recognition, a fingerprint sensor, and a mobile app, with a physical keypad available as an optional add-on accessory. The app lets owners share temporary or permanent codes, set schedules for guests such as dog walkers or cleaners, and see a log of who unlocked the door and when. Remote control and alerts run over the lock’s built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with no separate hub required.
Security is a major part of the pitch, and DESLOC says the V150 Plus uses encrypted communication between the lock and the app. The company describes a tamper alarm that can trigger if someone tries to break or force the lock, sending a notification to the owner. The housing uses metal construction aimed at resisting prying and impact. DESLOC states that the lock is designed to meet common residential security standards, and it carries BHMA Grade 3, IP65, and TÜV Rheinland certifications.
DESLOC frames the V150 Plus as especially useful for short‑term rental hosts and property managers who juggle many keys and guest check‑ins. Because the lock does not rely only on removable batteries, owners can avoid surprise power failures between guest stays and cut down on maintenance visits. Hosts can send codes to guests ahead of arrival and then delete them as soon as the stay ends, without key exchanges or lock changes. With the strong Kickstarter response, DESLOC plans to use the funds to move into mass production, with deliveries to backers expected to begin in August 2026.
