Amazon has announced new additions to its Kindle lineup, focusing on color displays and products for both adults and kids. The first product is the Kindle Colorsoft 16 GB, which is now available. This device features a color screen that is described as high-contrast, making images, book covers, and graphic novels more clear and bright. The Kindle Colorsoft model is designed to be easy on the eyes and includes weeks of battery life, fast page turns, and an adjustable warm light for reading in different lighting conditions.

A new Kindle Colorsoft Kids model is also being released. This device is built for young readers and includes a colorful cover, a year-long subscription to Amazon Kids+, and a two-year guarantee. Parents can use built-in controls to manage what their kids read and how they use the device. The Kindle Colorsoft Kids is set up to keep kids focused on reading without the distraction of apps, messaging, or notifications. It also comes with tools like Vocabulary Builder and Word Wise, an OpenDyslexic font for easier reading, and Bluetooth for listening to audiobooks. There are two cover designs to choose from: Fantasy River and Starlight Reading.

Amazon reports that Kindle device sales have grown by nearly 40 percent compared to last year’s Prime Day. Readers are also spending more time on their Kindles, logging over 129 billion pages read so far this year. The company notes that users of the new color Kindle models read hundreds more pages than those with black-and-white models. For kids, time spent reading comics and graphic novels is up by 46 percent compared to other Kindle Kids users. Amazon says that on average, kids read about an hour each day using the Kindle.

Both the regular and kids’ versions of the Kindle Colorsoft allow readers to see covers and images in color, add colored highlights, and switch to a dark background mode if they prefer. The standard model comes with three months of Kindle Unlimited at no extra cost, while the Signature Edition adds wireless charging, an auto-adjusting front light, and 32 GB of storage.

Amazon is also expanding its Amazon Kids+ subscription this summer, adding more books for young readers. This will include the complete Artemis Fowl series, over 30 Big Nate books, more Percy Jackson titles, and the full Storm Runner and Aru Shah series. These new additions build on an existing library that already offers popular titles like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Keeper of the Lost Cities.

With these updates, Amazon aims to give readers more choices and more ways to enjoy books in color, whether they are reading for fun or learning new things. The new Kindle Colorsoft models are available now, offering readers both young and old another way to experience digital books.
