Samsung Electronics America has officially launched its new Micro RGB TV, a large 115-inch television that uses a micro-scale RGB LED backlight. The company says this is the first display of its kind to cover 100% of the BT.2020 color gamut, a color standard set by the International Telecommunication Union. This means the TV can show a very wide range of colors with a high level of accuracy. The screen uses individually controlled red, green, and blue micro LEDs, each less than 100 micrometers in size, placed in a tight pattern behind the display panel. This setup allows for more precise color control compared to most standard backlighting systems.
The Micro RGB TV uses Samsung’s Micro RGB AI engine, which relies on artificial intelligence to control the LEDs. This technology analyzes each video frame as it plays and adjusts the color output in real time. The AI system can recognize scenes with dull colors and automatically enhance them to make the content look more vivid. The TV also has a feature called Micro RGB Precision Color, which further improves color details to provide images that look very close to real life. The product has received a certification for its color accuracy from the Verband der Elektrotechnik, a German electrical engineering organization.
The TV is also built to reduce screen glare with Samsung’s Glare Free technology. This helps minimize reflections, even in environments with a lot of light. The design of the TV is slim and uses metal materials, giving it a minimal profile that the company says will fit in with different home styles. The device comes with Samsung Vision AI, which allows users to use features such as an upgraded Click to Search powered by Samsung Bixby. With this function, viewers can ask questions about what is on the screen and get answers, look up actor biographies, find related content, and receive real-time recommendations without leaving the program they are watching.
Security features are included through Samsung Knox, which is designed to protect personal data. The TV also supports a 7-year free Tizen OS Upgrade program, so users will receive software updates and upgrades for a longer period. This should help keep the TV up to date with new features and security improvements.
The Samsung Micro RGB TV will be available in the United States. It will also be available in Korea, and the company has plans to offer the product in other countries in the future with more size options. The launch of this TV marks Samsung’s entry into the large, ultra-premium segment of the television market with a focus on color accuracy and smart features.
