LG Electronics has announced the release of webOS Hub 3.0, the newest version of its smart TV platform for third-party brands. This update brings new AI features and more options to users and business partners. WebOS Hub 3.0 is first rolling out on UHD TVs with 60Hz screens, with support for 120Hz UHD TVs using mini-LED technology coming in July.

WebOS Hub is known for its simple interface and stable performance. Over the last five years, more than 600 brands worldwide have added webOS Hub to their TVs. The new version is designed to make the platform even more attractive for companies working with LG, especially in the business-to-business space.

One of the main changes in webOS Hub 3.0 is the use of AI to improve the viewing experience. The platform now includes Voice Recommendation powered by ThinQ AI, which helps users find shows or movies by talking to their TV. Picture quality is better with Neural Network Super Resolution, which uses AI to make images clearer. AI Sound reduces background noise and makes voices in movies or shows easier to hear. These updates work together to improve picture and audio quality.

The latest version also uses advanced System-on-Chip technology, which makes the TV operate faster compared to the previous version, webOS Hub 2.0. Other new options include support for local dimming on mini-LED screens, Multiview so users can watch more than one show at once, and Always On Display. WebOS Hub 3.0 also supports the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard and Auracast Bluetooth audio, which can improve wireless connections and sound sharing.

When it comes to content, webOS Hub 3.0 connects users to more online streaming services, as well as LG Channels. LG Channels is a free, ad-supported service that now has 4,000 channels in 33 countries. This gives users around the world more ways to watch shows and movies without extra cost.

Gamers can use new features like Game Dashboard and Game Optimizer to adjust their settings. The new Gaming Portal gives users a way to look for and play games using the TV remote, including cloud gaming apps and webOS app games. The Gaming Portal also shows recently played games, trending titles, and editor picks. The platform includes Home Hub, which helps users manage connected devices and create a personalized setup.

Chris Jo, who leads the webOS Platform Business Center at LG, said that webOS Hub 3.0 is important for reaching more markets, offering better technology, building business partnerships, and supporting growth. LG plans to keep working with new partners and add more features to the platform over time.
