The Enbrighten Zigbee Dimmer Smart Light Switch 43080 is a wired in-wall dimmer that uses Zigbee 3.0. It can connect directly to Echo Studio, Echo Show 10, and first or second generation Echo Plus for voice control without an extra hub. For other Alexa devices, Google Assistant, or Home Assistant, it connects through a compatible Zigbee hub. Once it is set up, you can turn lights on or off and adjust brightness by voice or through your smart home app.

As a Zigbee device that stays powered all the time, this dimmer also helps your Zigbee mesh. It can extend the signal by up to 150 feet, which can help larger homes and reduce dead spots.

The switch has a shallow housing that is up to 20 percent less deep than older Zigbee models from the same brand. This can help in older or crowded switch boxes and in multi-gang setups. The SimpleWire feature makes the switch easier to install. It can auto detect line and load terminals during installation so you do not have to guess which wire is which.

There are dual ground ports on the switch, and they are offset from the mounting screws. This makes it easier to daisy chain ground wires in multi-switch boxes. A neutral wire is required for this dimmer to work, and it supports 3-way and other multi-switch setups when paired with up to four add-on switches, model 46199. In the box you get both white and light almond paddles, and the dimmer works with dimmable LED, CFL, incandescent, and halogen bulbs.

If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, stop and hire a licensed electrician to do the install for you.

Our Review

Enbrighten Zigbee dimmer switch installed
Enbrighten Zigbee dimmer switch installed.

I bought a couple of Enbrighten Zigbee Dimmer Smart Light Switch 43080 units to test in my house, one in the kitchen and one in a bathroom. The install went smoothly in both locations. The shallow body gave me enough space in the box, and SimpleWire made it easy to get the line and load right. They paired right away with my Zigbee setup and have stayed connected without dropping.

These switches have been in place for a couple of months now, and they have been very stable and reliable. One thing I like a lot is the actual feel of the paddle. Some smart switches feel soft or mushy when you press them. This one has a firm, clicky action that gives clear feedback when I turn the lights on or off, which makes it feel like a normal, high quality switch.

The dimming works as expected, with smooth steps instead of jumps. The switch also remembers the last dim level. If I set the lights low at night, turn them off, then turn them back on later, they come back at the same dim setting instead of going to full brightness. For me, that alone makes it a keeper.
