Aqara has announced a new solution aimed at smart home professionals. The company released the Edge Hub M300 and Aqara Studio Connect software. This product is designed for installers and integrators who work on projects for houses, apartment buildings, and small commercial spaces. The Edge Hub M300, combined with the Studio Connect software, lets users bring together many different smart devices and systems into one central hub. It can connect and control heating, cooling, lighting, security systems, and other devices, even if they come from different brands or use different communication methods.
The Edge Hub M300 supports several wireless and wired protocols. These include Zigbee, Thread, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth. It can also work with Matter-enabled devices and professional-grade devices that use standards like KNX IP, BACnet IP, and Modbus TCP. This means it can be used in both consumer and pro-level settings. The hub can also link these devices to other systems, such as KNX, Control4, Josh AI, and Nice. It connects with popular smart home platforms like Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home. This makes it possible to control many types of devices through one system, even if they were not designed to work together.
Aqara Studio Connect is a simpler version of the company’s full Studio platform and runs only on the M300 hub. It is accessed through a web browser and does not need to be installed as separate software. Installers and integrators can manage client systems, set up devices, and troubleshoot problems from anywhere. The software also comes with a no-code automation tool, so professionals can create custom setups for their clients without needing to write computer code. This can make the setup process faster and easier for installers.
The Edge Hub M300 offers local control. This means it can keep running even if the internet goes down, so smart home features like security and automation do not stop working. The hub supports both local and cloud backups to help protect user data. Aqara offers regular updates and technical support for these products. The system is built to handle up to 500 devices, which covers most single-family homes, small apartment buildings, and small businesses.
The hub and software are designed to help homes that already have wired systems. Adding wireless devices to these setups can give owners more control and let them expand their smart home features without changing the old wiring. The Edge Hub M300 and Studio Connect also work with Matter apps and virtual assistants. This means users can control their devices with their phones or voice commands using apps and assistants they may already know.
Aqara plans to show the Edge Hub M300 and Studio Connect at trade shows in 2025. At these events, they will give live demonstrations of how the new products work. This release is aimed at helping professional smart home installers bring more devices and features into one easy-to-manage system.
